Twart - Asterix by ronsalas Twart - Asterix by ronsalas
Posted my late Asterix piece to Comic Twart.

I wanted to work on my cartooning again so this was a great chance to do so. I get into this piece not through Uderzo, the artist of Asterix, but through Jack Davis, the great Mad cartoonist.

I chose watercolors cause I haven't really done anything like this before and I like doing stuff I don't know how to do.

Thanks! Glad you like it.
I only had a cursory exposure to Asterix when I painted this so I only was able to include the characters I actually knew! Maybe I'll do a painting of the other character later.

You're welcome :)
he thing is, Anticlimax is actually the main character of this story so that's why I thought you'd know him
Maybe he doesn't have the same name in your language, that's him :

awesome. Definitely see Davis in the hands and feet. A wonderful merger of the two great cartoonists and your own sensibilities.

The hands and feet are definitely important facets of the Davis style that I tried assimilate. Glad you picked up on it.

The whole "I don't do this stuff but I'm still so awesome at it" thing. Grrr!

I kid Ron, it's not anger, it's jealousy!

haha But it's not really that awesome. The colours are all pretty literal. The only thing I contributed to this is the lighting and modeling.

Thanks though. :)

Dude, I don't know hardly anything about watercolors save for 2 things: 1) Work from light to dark and 2) If you want the colours to look pure make sure your brush is clean. I think that's it. The rest is just me noodling around.

If I ever paint anything else I'll most likely do it in watercolor. I don't usually have the opportunity but sometimes I just get that bug...
Thanks!
